I've always like the look the XM-177E flash hider but I don't have a need for another AR. However, I am working on putting together a 9mm AR. Since a 9mm AR doesn't need a long bbl (like a 5.56 does) to be effective, I thought it would be cool to have a 9mm AR with the XM-177E look.
I started looking around for 9mm flash hiders and I've only found the A2 style. I did a quick search on Gunbroker and found this:
Cobray M-11 M-10 TEC-9 9mm Deluxe Flash HiderI'm not worried about the thread size because I would have to have it welded on anyway (no SBRs in Illinois).
Another option would be to get a "slip over" flash hider from DPMS (the .
BL-20A) and have it bored out and rethreaded. The only thing I don't know is if they flash hider actually works. Then again, how how flash is there to suppress with a 9mm going down a 16" bbl?
If anyone has any info to share on this, it would be sincerely appreciated.
Thanks in advance
