16" middy would really get my attention, or 14.5 w/perm FH.
This is REAL tempting though-I could easily pick up the barrel i want and sell this one for a wash or close to it. My LPK is supposed to be intoday, this would finish the build out. Nick |

What I meant to quote/imply is that any midlength and I am in for two. Need two uppers, want midlength.
It can be your money PSA, just need to get those Middys to market. |
|
I am VERY interested in a Middy length system. Will order at least one when they are avail. Will tag this for updates.
Crap... Do I need another carbine? hmmmmm..... |

14.5" M4 Carbine and 16" Mid-Length due within the next month if the production schedule holds.
|

I too would like a middy, but I will surely take the current offering if that is all that is available when my tax return comes in. Any Idea on the expected cost of the mid-length upper?
|
|
I picked one up today at their store in Columbia. Very happy with it.

Does the FSB have straight pins or taper pins? Is the Brl parkerized under the FSB?
|
|
Taper Pins. Barrel parkerized under FSB.
Thank you for the tremendous response. The promo pricing was our way of giving something back to our loyal customers, and the AR community. If you shop the features and the price, even with the increase it is still a smokin' deal. In the next few months we will be introducing lots of different variations - stay tuned. |

PSA, Not saying it's not a great deal even with the increase, but look at it from our position, you have competitors that have a longer history, selling a proven product with posted certifications for as little as $50 more. I am behind you guys here, but I think you just went up a league. And if you don't have the experience and record of some of the other players, you gotta be smarter, aka cheaper, than them until you get established as makers/assemblers of quality uppers. Come out with a middy at $425 and I would still be an immediate buyer. |

Any price reduction w/o handguards? (it's already a steal, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask!)

I am no marketing guru, actually the opposite, I just know how things look from my side of the fence.
Then again, I think I see how things are from your side as well, and I understand the $450 price tag. Know it sounds like I'm a major critic but trust me, I would love to have a PSA upper on my next build. Post certs and I think it will dispel quite a bit of doubt. Also wouldn't hurt to go on record about whether the bolts/barrels are individually or batch tested. |

And how do you assess whether or not you "gave back" to loyal customers? I'm sure that your uppers are at least as good as anyone else sells at that price point, but the suggestion that the $399 "temporary price" was anything but a grab for a lot of cheap word of mouth advertisement is ridiculous. Why stand behind that? If your product is worth $450, why not just launch it at $450? |

"Palmetto State Armory 16" Chrome-lined Carbine upper w/BCG: $399.95!!! "? NOT! You should at least edit the title of this thread now that you have increased the price. |
|
Damn, tough crowd on here, I for one think the PSA did an awesome thing, especially seeing how they did say in the first post that it was an introductory price...that's kinda what introductory means for those of you that didn't know, it means that's the price that it is when first introduced. Even though I missed out on the $399 INTRODUCTORY price, It was still a great price from an already great store.
|
|
Agreed, folks have to stop yelling at PSA for giving the first buyers of their new upper a good deal. Specced out as it is, it still seems like a solid deal at $450 - with BCG and everything, you'd be hard pressed to find something similar under $500 anywhere else. I am waiting anxiously for the middy - I can't wait to buy a 14.5 from them if they sell it. Regarding the introductory price and subsequent adjustment, I appreciate what they're doing. I think they're offering what appears to be a good product at a competitive price. $399.99 was a shockingly good price, IMO. $450 is a good price. We sit here demanding they sell us all this stuff and then yell at them when they raise the price in response to overwhelming demand. It's capitalism, man, and it's still a really good deal at the new price point! I'm not going to dump on them for doing what looks to me to be fair business.
3 Cheers for PSA, I'm glad to have a new option in the upper game! |

Funny how we were all singing the praises of Palmetto State Armory with their amazing group buys, but now they're dirty rotten scum because they ended their introductory pricing on an equally amazing complete upper.
Some of the posts in this thread are really torturing the concept of free enterprise in order to suggest that PSA was somehow acting improperly by offering a product at or below cost for only a limited period of time. Introductory pricing at or below fair market value is a perfectly legitimate way to build brand and product recognition. The folks who took advantage of this deal were decisiive and took a chance on an untested product. Good on them and I look forward to their user reviews. I'm bummed I missed out too, but I'm not going to whine that it's somehow PSA's fault that I didn't have the cash or the gumption to jump on the deal while it lasted. And since when is $450 for a complete upper with these kind of specs anything other that a good solid deal? It's still $50 less than a comparable package sold anywhere else. Having another player offering a quality complete upper is good news as far as I'm concerned. If the $399 introductory pricing never happened, we'd still be falling over ourselves about what an amazing value it is at $450. This sour grapes attitude because it's no longer $399 is just sickening. |
|
I'm glad I wasn't the only one seeing that I can say that some people will never stop amazing me

And since when is $450 for a complete upper with these kind of specs anything other that a good solid deal? Untested product of unknown quality. It might be a great deal. Time will tell. Some of us are just unwilling to be early adopters/beta testers for a mere $49 savings compared to a comparable spikes upper. In fact the saving are less because the Spikes is $499 delivered and comes with MOE handguards and a buffer. |
