I have a proper and correct target for zeroing the aforementioned rifle, but while it is for a 25 meter/1000 inch range, it has nothing but a grid and the aiming target on it. Will windage marks on the grid be 5 clicks and the for elevation?

Without seeing the targets you have, if you have the target for M-16 sights, its one click for each square. If you have the M-4 target for M-16a2/m-16a4/M-4 sights its 3 clicks for windage, one click for elevation. I hope this helps.

I now have two types: one from the 1960s I was referring to earlier for the 25m/1000 inch range for both the M14 and the M16 series, with the "upside down" rear sight thingie and the 1990s revised version patterned after the A2 zero targets.

I will get it figured yet.

For the M16A1/M14 "Canadian Bullseye" target, it's 2 clicks windage or elevation to move one square on the target at 25 meters.

The target in question was the "Canadian bullseye." Two clicks windage or elevation is cool.
