Had to pick up a stripped upper (went with a flat top for him) for my dads 22lr build and saw this sitting there too. Looks to be in relatively rough shape but servicable. I just have no idea what to turn it into. Ideas?

C8 Carbine ready... That D mark is really faint, if you sell it, it might lower the price unfortunately.

Turn it back into $60 by selling it to me!  Good score.

Yeah I have one already unfortunately! Hence my dilemma lol. The store had a bunch more so if anyone is interested I guess I could ask how many they had but it wasn’t local to me.

See if they have any without the brass deflector? Id be a buyer at that price. Also would you be willing to ship one? Whether they have the deflector or not I'd like one for my build. Rather not cut up my colt to mill off the deflector. Thanks

If its not out of your way I'd be interested. I'd love to build a retro upper that won't brass my lefty GF in the face.

No I’m afraid not if they had some standard a1s I’d be all over them all. It was in brookesville Fl so I’ll ask my buddy who lives down there to ask them the other questions.

Some people have all the luck, nice score

I recommend a 723 build if you don't have one already, or just sell it to me so I can build a C7 myseld

From the photos, it looks like it's been refinished.  If you're brave enough to strip the coating you may find a good "battle worn" anodized finish under there.

Why do you want to mill a deflector off of an upper as opposed to just getting the right upper to begin with? There are people that want these C7 uppers for builds and the brownells uppers aren't too much more expensive

Put an m4 barrel on it and pair it with a type d stock.  Thank me later.

This would be my vote.  Or just do a CAR stock for a normal ole 723.  But I love A1 stocks.  Plus you get the heavier buffer with the carbine gas......

OR, since you already have the 711, how about a dissy with an A1 stock.   Oh yeah......

So the whole m4 barrel and type D is basically what I have spare so it looks like that’s what I’m going with. Well I don’t technically have the barrel yet and the type d is a little cracked but I’m getting there.

Post it over in the A2 forum when you're done.  Since it's not a true Retro.

The current plan is for it to be a 16” carbine with an fsb and a fixed type D stock. Going to be a little bit of a mix master but will make a great retroish truck gun.

Please note this is in no way a want to trade post i am just spitballing:

So I am looking at this dinged up (slight chip) Type D stock that is nicely mottled that I was going to use on this build and it almost seems a shame to use something with such character on a mix master build. So i'm thinking of trading it out for someone on here for another fixed stock or hell even a carbine stock. I really can't make up my mind...

That's a pretty peashooter!

I've got one almost just like it. Mine has a pencil barrel though and sometimes wears a high glass plastic CAR stock and sometimes a D stock.

I bought the complete upper from I don't remember where and just recently added the black Brownells lower.

Nice handy weapon especially with the D stock!
