I got all my steel LPK parts by using the naval jelly trick on a DPMS parts kit, worked great. I have mag buttons on order from Jerrell.

I just ordered 2. For almost $30 shipped they had better not be black!
ETA: It seems really stupid to pay $10 for a $3 or $4 part just because it's a different color, but sometimes simple and easy is worth $5. I wonder if Numrich will take them back if I don't like them? 'My girlfriend says they just don't match the drapes'.

Isn't the TG aluminum? I thought the jelly trick just worked on steel. (That's what I've been reading anyway.) If it does work on aluminum, then I'm dumber than a box of rocks.

Naval jelly will strip anodizing down to the bare aluminum. I took an old slipring that I was going to coat with Norrells to see what would happen, and it came out raw. It did take the Norrells better however. |

I tried it on a black alum. trigg. guard for 30 sec. Nothing happened. YMMV
Maybe it takes longer than steel. I wouldn't try the Naval jelly on aluminum unless you want it bare. Hal |

Just received 3 of the trigger guards for GPC and all are grey with excellent finish. 1 of them does have a hand engraved 6 on it?? Now I won't have to send some old ones out to US Anodizing.

I just got two of them, and they sure look black to me! I haven't had time to really unwrap them and take a closer look, but boy they look dark. If they are black, they are going back.

I ordered 6 just to see what they would look like and some are lighter than others. They are definately not Dark Black....I would say they are a good choice for retro builds.

So is mine and they even put a note on the order not to ship if Black and that the trigger guard must only be Parked Grey color. I'm about done with Numrich - they have never gotten an order totally right for me the first time. |

They're never gotten an order wrong for me.  You did order a part which was not of a described color you know. The wank that pulls the parts out of the bins probably only knows the part number and quantitiy to grab and never even sees the notes on the order you submit online anyways. I just ordered one, and will be curious to see what shows. If nothing else, I can use it to replace a plastic guard in a Bushie LPK. |

The steel parts in most modern LPKs are grey under the black. Dunk 'em in naval jelly for 30 seconds and the black should come right off. Then scrub em with soap and water, then dunk em in oil for a while to prevent rusting. Voila, grey lower parts!
Unfortunately it doesn't work on the trigger guard and the mag button, 'cause they're aluminum. Hence, the excitement in a possible source of grey trigger guards. |

A new one + reanodizing without any shipping looks like about $14.00. Maybe if there was enough interest someone (ahem) could get a bunch of these done for a little less?

Why dont you guys use Norrels or duracoat? Crap for $15 I'll spray them for you. LOL. I did mine and I think it came out ok, of coarse its not orignal, but its close.

Because you can get one reanodized for $10. I thought it might be easier to get a bunch done right rather than everybody buying small parts and sending them in piecemeal. Am I crazy?

Good luck, I actually called it in with the PN mentioned in this thread and the lady takng the order called back to the warehouse to make sure that they pulled a grey one while I was on the phone. They have grey ones and black ones mixed up in the bin. They said they pulled a grey one - LOL. Oh well, I'll just send it to Victor along with the upper he is going to do for me. |
