Tahnks, are there any others, like Leupold, Super Sniper, etc?

I'm a firm believer in the Super Sniper product.  I've got a 10x on my Grendel upper and my next rifle will have one as well.  Many props to SWFA on a quality product.  In the same price range as the Bushnell, I happen to like the ease of use on the turrets though, since I'm not much of a mil- person.

Easily the best deal available for a 300 Whisper gun in a 10x.  I have one and it's great.  Not 'tactically tough' but a great value in optics.

10x seems a little much for such a short range cartridge in my opinion.  I'm planning on the Leupold Mark 4 1.5-5x20 with the SPR reticle for mine.

Anyway, a 240 grain Sierra Matchking with a muzzle velocity of 1050 will drop 205" at 400 yards.  It will still have 938 FPS, but it really starts dropping like a rock.  This assumes a 100 yard zero as well.

Whatever you choose (Mine wears a 30 mm tube 3.5-10 Leupold LRT M1) suggest it have a lot of elevation or else you need canted mounts if you want distance as some of the posters above reference.

Damn, that's some drop! Didn't realize it had a limited range, but then again who really shoots out past 400m anyways?

I can see some point in supersonic, it gives someone more hitting power for the size (same relative size as .223).

I like having the flexibility to go super-sonic with the loading, but it really comes into its own in the subsonic arena.  Consider this:  The 44 Magnum shoots a 240 grain bullet, and can be loaded to 1050 FPS.  However, the BC of the .44 bullet is a measly .172 at that velocity, and drops to .171 below 900 FPS.  That means it drops 260" at 400 yards and only has 738 FPS left.  The 240 SMK has a BC of .685 below 1800 FPS.  

So I'd much rather have the 300 Whisper than a 44 Magnum for "heavy" suppressed shooting.  That and the fact that I can stuff those 240 monsters in standard AR mags, is a huge bonus.  I'll probably use 20 rounders, because supported shooting "at range" will be the way to go.

Even suppressed with super-sonic loads, it would still be quite a platform.  I can't wait for AR15barrels.com to get done with my upper.... (Long wait, he is pretty popular these days.)

If your shooting distance with the 300 whisper rather than a 10x scope you'd be better off investing in a surveyors transit to plot the rainbow trajectory.  Remember, your shooting a round that has much less power than the old 30/30 Winchester.
