Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - LMT gas port size??

I am getting a 16" LMT MRP upper next weeks but I would rather have a 14.5" with a Vortex per. attached.  Anyway, my question is does anyone know if the gas ports are the same size.  If so, I will just have it cut and re-threaded.  Probably cheaper and easier than trying to find a 14.5" barrel and sell mine.  Thanks

If you are talking about a MRP in 5.56 the 16 inch has a midlength gas system and the 14.5 inch has a carbine gas system.
So IMO you are better off getting a 14.5 inch barrel.
