How does one obtain a KAC upper with the URX II?

I'm interested in having an upper with the freefloating M203 mounting.

You can't as KAC does not sell uppers and the URX II is presently unvailable due to unfilled military contracts.  There is hope for the URX II though.  Maybe next year, if they ever catch up on their military obligations.

I believe it would be available if you bought a complete KAC rifle with one installed, but try to find a complete KAC rifle.

Obviously one can, it's just really really hard.

Hey Altav, did you ever get your recce updated with a URX II and KAC front sight/gas block?

I just realized that you asked me this...

The parts were originally for my SAM-R but that got sold off in my quest for an SR-25 MK11.  I still have the FSB and I haven't taken possession of the URX yet - still negotiating the price.  To be honest, I'm not sure that it's worth the $$$ since it's a complete upper that I would be purchasing and the only person that I know that has the tools to take it apart is Wes @ MSTN and it'll cost some change to have him swap it out to another upper - let alone the hassle of having to FedEx it back and forth.  Knowing me, I'll more than likely buy it.  I should be getting some final detailed photos of it within the next few days so I'll post them and see if people think it's worth the asking price.

Any chance a mere mortal can get one of the KAC flip FSB with a bayo lug?

Cause I don't think PRI makes a flip front with the pig sticker mounting bracket. . .

You mean like this one?

Anything is possible - the question is how much are you willing to pay to get what you want?

Nice sights though guys - but get them on GUNS!!!!!

Yeah - I know and you have a URX on there too - and I hate you!!!  Just kidding!  Still trying to figure out what project this one will be for.  Funds are low so I need more time to gather the cash then figure out what rifle it needs to go on.  Now if I could find a URX.

When you get it, can you tell me if those holes between L37 and L35 work with the KAC quick detach sling swivels?

Oh, when you finish with it we are going to need pics!

Thanks!

Spooky - nope they dont - they are threaded as well for bolts (you just dont need to use them...)

Rob556 - the RAS unofficially already replaced the RIS -- IIRC only a few USN units are still using it.  RAS MRE unturn replaced the RAS in a unit.  URX is available on both the 7.62 and 5.56mm versions.  KAC aint saying where they sent them though...

KevinB - what bolts go in there?  What are the bolts used for?  I'm just trying to figure out why KAC took the time to put them in - and apparently thread them - if there is no real use for them.  Sounds like a pointless waste of time that only increases the cost.  I guess I'm showing my lakc of knowledge of the URX!!!

The threaded holes you see are in the removable lower rail of the URX.  Since you only need like one URX srcew on each side (although 2 for each side are provided) the other threaded holes will accept our (KAC) sling swivel studs, etc.  The holes are standard 1/4-20 thread.

Cool.  You could answer all my questions by simply sending me a URX - heck, I'll even pay for it.  On that note, and since you are the KAC rep who reads and posts here - any idea when or if the URXs will be more available on the open market for us KACohlics?

And thanks for the reply KevinB...

IT'S HERE!!!

Can't wait to shoot it tomorrow night to see what it can do - but something tells me that at the very least the barrel is going to get changed for something in the 14.5" range... Unless someone makes me an offer that I can't refuse.

Sorry for the poor pic, but I was never a good photographer - will get better ones up soon.
