Fixed rear BUIS = LMT (fully adjustable elevation & windage)
Folding rear BUIS = TROY (locks up, adjustable windage only) This is one bitchin' sight. Both theTROY matching front sight and the AR are adjustable for elvation, hence the rear needn't be. Consistent with AR15.com membership requirements ;-) , I own both. |

If your going with various type optics, the ARMS 40L (L-for low) will let anything out there clear, including NV monoculars in service. It is dual apertrure. They don't lock into place, instead they are spring loaded and flex, then go automaticaly back into battery in case something hits them, instead of breaking a lock. They utilize a hold down lever so the sight can't be accidently deployed by a branch or something.

I'd say go with LMT over either of those.

I'm a big fan of the LMT fixed, but my upcoming carbine (spare) will sport the LaRue BUIS.
My current carbine sports an Aimpoint ML2 w/LaRue M68 mount. If you're going with a magnified optic such as an ACOG, then give the ARMS #40L a try. I run a #40 with my Compact ACOG. -Jim |

you might want to figure out what optic or optics you're going to go with first . this might make the decision easier. there are compatability issues to consider between rear sight, optic and mount. i have LMT, M2 with PRI high mount. setup work great for me and an excellent stand alone rear sight. Rock solid and fully adjustable and looks great too. but if i'm not mistaken this sight is designed to be used with reflex and aimpoint, not with ACOG or Eotech.
