My process was slow and painful, but I shopped the EE for a Colt 1/7 gov't profile barrel and got a new one, with shipping tube and everything, for just over $100. I then bought the rest of the components and put it together. I already had the KAC M5 RAS available. The barrel was the hardest thing to find. Good luck with your build.

Bushmaster also makes the gov profile 1/7 20" barrel.
You have to call and ask for it but they do have them. That is were I got mine. I ordered the barrel only and installed it, but I'm sure Bushmaster would put the upper together for you (for the right price  ).No RAS yet   |

I just ordered a FN 1/7 gov't profile barrel from Fulton Armory. They have them in stock. Bushmaster will make you wait for a couple months.
What I'd like to know is what type of railed forearm in on the USMC A4's. Is it a free-float forearm, or is it one that snaps on like the regular A2 handguards? What brand is it and where can I get one that looks just like it? |

The USMC uses the Knights Armament M5 RAS on their standard M16A4s. They use the Knights Free Float RAS on the Squad Advanced Marksman Rifle. |

Sell me on the LaRue ACOG mount... I just got my ACOG on my M16A4gery and all it has is the standard Trijicon flat top mount - what does the ACOG do better? Spooky |

If you are going to mount your ACOG and never take it off, the standard TA51 mount from Trijicon will serve you well. If you want the ability to remove it and replace the ACOG with another optic or irons, LaRue is the way to got. Its rock solid on ANY rail due to its adjustability and it repeats its zero. |
