My wife will be shooting for the first time in the Oct. Knob Creek rifle competition. My setup is a M-4 semi with a AWC Raider suppressor. This setup fatigues her and she can't hold it steady. I removed that 16oz weight and need to replace it with muzzle break. I need some suggestions.

Does FL still have an AWB or something. Why not go with an evil flash suppressor?

I would not call what the 223 puts out recoil or muzzle rise.

Cav Comp from Cavalry Arms.

It will bring your 14.5" barel out to 16" when permanently installed. It resembles an A2 FS, but is a muzzle brake and is slightly longer.

No, but not all people are created equal and apparently his wife DOES consider the .223 to have too much recoil and muzzle rise.

Until just recently

I had a brake from EGW http://www.egw-guns.com/ on my M4gery. It looked identicle to a FS but with the usual brake features. Too bad it's gone now!!!!!

You might get less recoil and muzzle rise with a brake but the extra noise can be bothersome to a new shooter too.

The better the brake the louder they are!

Thank you for the suggestions, I have decided on the Bennie Cooly brake sold by JP. It was a break designed around the rule book of many competitions. My wife will give a report on it after this weekend. Again thank you.
