i wanted to cut a 20" bushy A2 barrel back to 18" but i after curious to know if i should expect any gas related problems. i am aware of the problems that arise from cutting them down to 16".

thanks for any help.

thanks for the tip on the search and the links but i was looking for a more definitive answer to the gas port. can i assume you did not have to adjust the gas port size? thanks again.

I've heard that there shouldn't be a problem to as short as 17".  I know that my 18" works fine without touching the gas port.  Good thing too because no amount of hammering has managed to get either of the taper pins loose in that FSB.

I picked up a 20 inch stainless steel match barrel from Gerogia Precision a year ago, I had it cut to 18 inch with out having to change the gas port size.  The gun function flewlessly for the past year in many 3gun matches.  I would not worry about the gas port size if you decide to cut your barrel. just make sure you get a good crown for the muzzle.
