What is a police agency going to do with a belt fed machine gun?

They would probably convince someone to buy it.  Right after 9/11, I read an article saying that FN was starting to market the M249 to LE agencies.  The DEA also field tested some Colt LMGs.  I'm not sure if they actually bought a supply, but they were used a few times (at least according to Colt) on a few DEA ops.  There are some reasons LE agencies would need a LMG, not many, but some.  It is a niche weapon for special purposes.  Not every departments need them, but a few will and gov't agencies would probably buy a good supply.
