I have a question that I know the board can answer for me.
I have a stripped lower rec. that I would like to make into a AR pistol.  I went back to the FFL dealer that I bought from and asked him If I need to indicate that on the paper work.  He said "No, build it into a pistol or rifle but just make sure it's postban."
Is that right?
I wanted to use a 11.5" flattop upper and make a nice little pistol.

There are kits available.  Problem is none of them will meet the weight requirements of the 1994 Crime Bill which limits them to 50oz -- can't weight more than that!  No one has yet produced more than a handful of commercial AR15 pistols since 1994 because this weight requires drilling holes in everything.

The Carbon 15 pistol was light enough.  Not reliable at all.  Bushmaster now owns the design, so there may be hope.  But a pistol in this caliber is a novelty item, you're better served with larger diameter bullets.

You could fix the magazine into the pistol, but that would make reloading very clumsy.  Unless the magazine is removeable it's not covered under the Crime Bill.

This may all be moot in 15 months -- but I'm not betting on it.
