Is RRA the only company making mid-length handguard rifles?  Are they the only ones who make the guards that length? Is the gas tube run through the sight base? Just wondering, I have never had a personal look at these.

Les Baer does too, but theirs are only available with free float hanguards.

I have a RRA 16inch barrel with midlength handguards and the gas block is NOT located under the handguards.

Are there any problems inherent in the Dissipator type carbines with the gas block under the full length handguards? I am looking for a 16" upper, and I am wondering why the M4 is so popular when it seems to me that the Dissipator upper has the advantage in terms of sight radius. Plus, the length of exposed barrel on teh M4 just looks vulnerable, whereas the Dissipator's barrel is more "protected". Am I missing something, or should I gho ahead and get the Dissipator?
PS- do bayonets fit on these (the dissipator, the RRA mid length CAR?)
THANKS

No, a bayonet won't fit on either one.  As somebody pointed out (but I can't find w/o the search) you SHOULD be able to put one on the mid-length, if Armalite had made them the right length to begin with.  But (IIRC) they're about 11/16" too long for that.

Which is lighter: The Bushmaster Dissiaptor with the 16" M4 or the Dissipator with a fluted barrel?

Which is better (functionally) for a carbine?

Thanks for all the expert injfo.
