I have seen some concerns about various BCG's with  improper torque specs or staking and was hoping someone could take a look at these pictures and let me know if the staking on my PSA BCG is adequate.  I can say that with closer inspection that it does appear that the staking mark on all four points is indeed pushing material over and touching the head of the hex bolt but I am just not sure if it's enough.

Isn't the worst I've seen but certainly not the best. At least there is some overlap.

Kind of half-assed, but should be functional.

Thanks for the input guys.  I will probably update this to NiB carrier within a year anyway, I just got this thing.

Looks better than an LMT I had a while back. I'd be fine with it.

Looks pretty good, why not stake it a little more on the left side?

It is fine.

Staking is important if your screws weren't torqued properly and sealed.  If they were overtorqued, then you risk sheering the head off.  If undertorqued that they become loose.

If you are concerned, a center punch or screwdriver and hammer can stake an unstaked carrier in about 60 seconds, but it is not as big of a deal as people make it out to be.  I would invest in an adjustable calibrating torque wrench to ensure that the screws are still torqued properly after every few hundred rounds or few months depending on frequency of use.  US Army Training Manual TM-9 calls for 35-40 inch pounds on each screw and then staking them so the metal contacts the head of the screw.

TM-9 Training Manual  See Pages 3-27 and 3-28.

Think good enough versus not good enough and you'll save yourself a lot of frettiing.  That one is good enough.

This. It is just enough to never give you a problem. I wouldn't give it a second thought...

The Staking is fine.
Doesn't look pretty, but it's fine.
Having a Bolt Head shear off, the "Best Staking in World" won't prevent that.

Staking looks OK.
Current torque spec is in the 55 inch/lb range.
If a screw does come loose replace it.
