Hey guys picked up my first AR15 It seems a bit dry inside and I was wondering what oil and cleaners do you guys recommend?
Also I was told that these guns like to run wet is that true?

You'll get 50 different answers to that question. But I clean with Hoppes, and lube with liquid wrench. YMMV

Welcome. Start with the tacked threads at the top of the forum. Then read the tacked threads in Maintenance. This has been posted a 1000 times on the forums and you will find more info than you will be able to digest.

To answer your post...

I use Hoppes and a FBC for the bore. OMS and CLP for the bolts. FP10 and a oil I am playing with for everything else.

And like my women, I like my AR's wet...

Check out maintenance and cleaning. You will find a ass load of info there. I use 10W30 Castrol Syntec blend on my rifles and they run great!  Congrats on you AR purchase.

Glad you found the maintenance forum.  Disregard the bone heads in General Discussion.

You got yourself a nice AR.  It's going to do you well.

Check out some of the youtube video's on cleaning and a slight oil is really necessary.  Do not run it wet as it will attract all sorts of stuff that will gunk up your rifle.

I like to use CLP and sometimes Slipstream.  Slipstream is not a mainstream lube but you can find CLP anywhere, walmart has it.  It's usually listed as Breakfree CLP, stands for Cleans Lubricates and Protects.

I went ahead and locked your thread in the General Discussion forum - not because there was anything wrong with it, but because you'll get much better answers in here!

I was wondering what happened to that post...  sorry for double posting.

Don't use liquid wrench. A light hydrocarbon penetrating oil is horrible lube for ARs

M-Pro 7 make a line of cleaners and lubricants that have little or no smell and work very well.
