Well got the AR together now I figure I need a soft case to put it in to take it to the range. What are some of the good options out there?

I bought a couple of cases from Sabre when they were in business. Soft sided,  will hold rifle,  mags, pistol and mags..Was supposed to discreet I guess, but the Sabre logo across the case makes it pretty apparent whats in the bag..For a range bag I have a Hafner that I have had since the 90's..big and roomy..BTW don't use your range bag for a bench rest. Ask me how I know...

Voodoo double rifle bag. Because you will have more AR's... I still would like a nice pelican though.

This. I use the double rifle bag every time I go, loaded with at least two AR's. I throw handguns in all the pockets. It has been a great bag.

I have a really cool Maxpedition bag that will hold two (short) long guns. With the stocks retracted on 16" barreled carbines, they fit. And the best part is it even looks like a keyboard case. I thought about getting letters for "YAMAHA" put on it to complete the look

I've been using an old Larue soft case. A few rips and tears but still going strong.

42" voodoo case. fits two rifles, two handguns and a bunch of small pockets (but loading it all up makes it bulky as hell). another one i use is la police gears bag. not as much carrying capacity but its only $36 or so on their sale page

I wanted one that allowed for loaded transport, with pouches on the front, shoulder straps, and DISCRETE!!!

It was $40 on sale, and its put together alot better than any of the cheap rifle cases. Plus it has more padding. With torn jeans and a badly faded Nirvana T-shirt, that is VERY discrete!

It holds this 16", my 18", my 16" 22lr with Havoc launcher, and my RPK. The RPK is a tight squeeze though, and its gotta be unloaded. Now if I had a bass guitar case...

I have an Uncle Mikes for my UZI. I like the Uncle Mikes one a lot and I know they make an AR-15 sized one. Just be aware that if you open the zippers to the absolute max and fold the case flat it can be hard to get the zippers to get moving again (at least on mine).

I like my Blackhawk Sportster "modular weapons case." You have to buy some extra stuff to do it but you can make it a double-sided rifle case pretty easily. Decent padding and a padded divider. It's on the less expensive end too. I think I got mine for under $40 and spent about $20 on the extra stuff to hold 2 rifles.

Only two things I don't like about it:

1. Not long enough to fit my shotgun (22" Mossberg 930).

2. No shoulder or backpack straps. Have to carry it by the carry handle.

Another vote for the Midway bag.

OpsGear has the condor bags for a pretty good price, and they always have shipping discounts over $99 and monthly discounts. They have blackhawk and others as well, just answering the "wheres condor" specifically.

Also, I like the guitar gig bag pretty well. Desperado comes to mind.  haha But where the hell you gonna put the guitar now..? I like some tunes with my shooting.

I was going to go that route until the "special handling" plus shipping brought it to over $31 from $19. Nope, I'll look and see if I can find a nicer one for around $50.

I like the LaRue soft case, too.  A lot of times I leave with multiple AR's and need a few bags.  I've got  a UTG bag that I like, too.  Cheap and has held up well.  Holds a pistol and multiple mags in a side compartment and has lots of velcro straps.  It's great for my longer AR's.  I break down the upper from lower and velcro them in place.  Plus it has back pack straps.  One of the ranges I go to requires a mile long hike.  Nice to be able to shoulder the gun bag.

This is the one I use.  Living in a condo community in liberal land, I want to be low key going to the range.  I like this bag because it holds up to a 16 inch barreled upper and you still have room for optics and such on your rails.  I got mine for 30 bucks and shipping from Brownells, something like 37 bucks total.

I use a Blackhawk one that I picked up in the desert from a soldier that didn't want to/couldn't take it home with him... it was either call dibs on it or my buddy would have grabbed it because the soldier was going to throw it away. I have to seperate the upper from the lower to make it fit but it works for me. It still has the dust from the desert on it... and I picked it up in 2005.

Yeah, you do have to order over $25, I think, to avoid their $3 fee. The bag is easily worth the money though, even at $30.

LA Police Gear has one you might be interested in

http://www.lapolicegear.com/lapg-36in-rifle-case.html

I'm pretty sure you'll have shipping charges on top of that, but it looks like a pretty good case for the money. They sell the Condor stuff too. Sometimes they'll have some decent sales so unless you are in a hurry, it might be worth keeping an eye on them.
