Mine has a chrome lined steel barrel, not stainless steel. I can't remember what kind of steel they are made of at the moment. Stainless steel barrels are an option, not mandatory.

I absolutely love my MRP. Not sure if you are aware, but there is a whole tacked thread about them here :

concur....

Big fan of the MRP. My Form 1 is in process, and then a short barrel will be added to the mix. A very versatile weapon system.

I'm seriously considering Form 1ing my MRP so I can play with short barrels and then that will lead to suppressors....

To OPS144, you are quite welcome.

Had two, sold 'em due to them being very heavy for a .223 carbine.

I just received my uppers after almost a year waiting. and so far i really like them. they have a few options as for barels and caliber. but there web page can be a bit confusing.

what you are seeing here is a lmt piston driven in 223 far left, and a standard gas impinged lmt 6.8spc on the far right.

Exactly how purple is that upper?? Bad pics I hope?

mine is purple too in the right light. I purposefully found a purple lower to go with it. Some may not like it, but it only looks purple when its all oiled up and in the right light. Remember, purple is the color of kings....

My Tactical Innovations T15BDX lowers are kind of purple in the right light. not a big deal for me.

Its a little purple, those pics definitely enhance the sheen though. hasnt seemed to effect the way it shoots.
Also going to rattle can it soon so that should settle the color down.

That rifle as pictured weighs 9.5lbs empty, which is pretty similar to any other AR so equipped.

what is heavy? 5 lbs, 6lbs, 7lbs, am i getting warmer.  Any ar with a top quality barrel, and a decent length rail system will be a heavier platform. so what ar platform do you now prefer?

MRPs are beyond awesome.  Friend of mine visited a little while back (R&R from A-Stan), and we went to the range.  He was green with envy when he shot the MRP.    ...or he was just trying to make me feel good

+1 million on the MRP.  It has the most adaptable barrel platform and is a first-rate rifle.
