Can 16"  1:9 Twist stabilize 77gr bullets? Or do I need 1:7 twist?

1x9 is iffy.

My 1x9 barrels will not stabilize 75 grain Hornady HPBTs. My 1x8 has no problem with them.

One of my barrels seems to do fine with 75 grain bullets but the other one has a noticeable decrease in accuracy.

I no longer shoot 70+ grain bullets through either barrel.

I could never get my 1-9 to shoot the 69gr SMk worth a crap.

Others say it works well for them.

Could be iffy.

Depends on the barrel.  My 1/9 likes eats up 69 grain Sierra Matchkings like candy and asks for more.  Haven't tried any heavier.

My 1:9 20" likes 68 & 69 grn bullets but above 70 grns things start to go down hill.

i have 2 friends with bushys 1:9 that will not shoot anything heavier than 69 gr. 2 others have stags 1:9 that shoot 75 gr. great. My ARs have 1:7 and 1:8 so the shoot 50 to 77 gr. great.

How the hell can you afford that?

My Colt AR6721 with a 1/9 barrel  will shoot 75gr TAP, but the accuracy is nothing to write home about. On the other hand, one of my shooting buddies has a 1/9 Bushmaster that is extremely accurate with the same ammo...Go figure.

All I shoot from my Remington 700P 1/9 is 77gr Black Hills 5.56mm Mk262, and it loves it.

Same way I can afford FA - work my ass off since 15 and have no life outside of working hunting and fishing.

My J & T M4 loves 69gr SMK.  Haven't tried anything heavier.

mine does just fine out to 225 yards ahven't tried much further than that. I suspect things would start happening much further than that in a 1:9
