Why not just find a cheap A1 grip?

I did. I just used a bench grinder to take it most of the way down (dremel would work as well) then I used files and then finally sand paper to get it the rest of the way there.
How does it look? Alright I guess but I didn't do it for looks. I do however greatly prefer the feel of it because I hate finger grooves and that was the whole point of it for me. Just do it, if you don't like it then all it will cost you is $5 to replace it assuming you don't already have 5-10 extra A2 grips laying around. |

Why blow $6 + shipping when you can just sand off the hump? Takes 5-10 minutes, costs nothing and no waiting by the mail box

I've done it with a dremel, and I'm about to try another one with a bench grinder.
I also had a buddy glass bead blast the hole grip afterwards to make the finish match all the way around. Looks pretty good to me. |

Yup, cheap and easy to do.
Then next one to get the "treatment" is my Sierra Precision SPR grip.

Its been done by a bunch of people here, there used to be a thread with pictures showing the steps that someone used to have theirs turn out nice.

I used a rasp and then a mill bastard file. 3M indoor out door non-slip thread tape gives a good grip you can get it a Home depot.

I’ve done it in an attempt to replicate an A1 grip. Used a razor knife, sandpaper and Brasso.
