Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Missing buffer retaining pin & spring

I just got my RRA upper to go along with a RRA lower, but I am missing my buffer retaining pin and spring.  I would like to shoot tomorrow.  Anybody have a recommendation of a fix that I can use until my new buffer retaining pin and spring arrive?

I thought about a wooden dowel, but I am new to AR's and don't want to do anything that could damage my gun.

Just push the buffer in, pin the upper on, and you'll be good to go.  The buffer retaining pin is only in use when the upper and lower are split.

Thanks for the information!  My son is really excited about shooting the new rifle, so this will make tomorrow a very good day at the range.

That will work you should be good to go. Just rember when you take it appart or a buffer though the window will be hard to explan to the wife!
