Rivets and Saftey wire

I notice on some AR's there looks to be 2 rivets and saftey wire on the lower reciever right above the trigger. I have 2 RRA and 1 bushmaster and they don't have them. Anybody help out a noob.

I don't think I understand, but is there any chance you are referring to the KNS anti-walk non-rotation trigger pins lots of folks here have?

Some where I have seen longer pins with holes in them which the wire was run thru and twisted

I just had to look in on a thread about safety wire. But alas, it's not. It's about antirotating pins. You will find safety wire on most M60s, and in some other applications, but not with ARs.

I have some great memories, and not a few scars, from safety wire...

Actually my Aimpoing Comp M XD uses safety wired to hold the caps on. Not those fancy rubber things they use nodays.....

Thanks for the response on the pic. I host all his pics and occasionally find other webpages that have "borrowed" them without permission....

we used to use safety wire on red dots and ir devices. worked much better than 550 guts. never seen anyone else do it though. beats getting online and walking the training areas looking for lost sensitive items.

In all my 12+ years of shooting M16's both in the military and other agencys I have never had or seen a pin "walk out". Seems to me to be a way to get people to spend money on gadget to fix a non-existent problem.

if you spent all the money for an NFA M16 lower what's another $40?

for semi-auto safe queen internet centerfold AR's it's just another part to brag about having... like the D-fender, crane o-rings, HK style sights, all chrome bolt and bolt carrier, enidine buffer, etc...

it could be worse... you could be wasting your money on airsoft SOPMOD stocks and chinese aimpoint knockoffs...

You have a point. I'm developing a reliability potion that you sprinkle on your weapon to guarantee trouble free shooting. It will cost $40 too!

Cost=$29, not much if it keeps your lower good to go for many hundreds of thousands of rounds or more.

I never thought I'd see it happen but that all changed with an XM16E1 that was issued to a friend of mine. Trigger pin walked out on full auto fire about half a dozen times, that was a bit of a pain in the ass to fix in the field with only a gerber the first time

However this was a clapped out XM16E1.
On a semi AR15, especially a new weapon it's a waste of mone y. I had them once, sold em, not worth it. However if you have a RR or perhaps a Cali legal reciever or some other unique circumstances, they might be worth it. I do have the KNS stainless pins and they are very nice, dunno if i'd buy em but I got them in a deal with a Stag lpk, good stuff.

I got an LMT 2 stage trigger and added $25 for "Non-Rotational" KNS pins.

If someone is going to worry about the smoothness of their trigger pull, this seems like a simple add-on that should keep things more consistent.

"Anti-Walk" and "Saving Your Lower" are not benifits. That would be like buying an insurance policy at $30 for an item that cost $100.
