I know that there are different rifles for different roles, but what primary sighting system do you prefer if you could only have one choice? The choices would be good ole iron sights, dot type CQB sight, or variable or fixed power scope. I know that some of the ACOG's can be used in a dual role, but I am just using the three for this thread.

Murphy's Law: if it can fail it will.  Stick with iron sights,  the batteries will never go dead.

if I had ONLY one choice, I'd definately take the iron sights -- the others have their uses, but I wouldn't want to clear a house looking through a 4x!!

Aimpoint handles most anything Id need an AR to do.

I would also say iron sights, as the AR configuration is very easy for me to line up even with both eyes open.  But, I can't help but notice all the Aimpoints and ACOGs being used overseas.  Maybe they are best in most high pressure situations, but I still like the irons for general use.

Pretty good, but I've pitted an olive at 200m with my Elcan.

Aimpoint or iron sights.  Aimpoint is faster, but I love iron sights.

Primary sighting system?

ACOG or Aimpoint.  I'll vote fixed optic though.

Each accompanied with some form of BUIS.

If I had any choice it would be an ACOG

I'm new to ARs and have only shot with a red-dot though. it's ok, but I'd really prefer something magnified

Aimpoint or Eotech.  I am left eye dominant but right handed.  It makes life much easier for me.

If I could afford it, I'd put an ELCAN on every rifle I own (other than the 10" - I'd keep an EOTech on that one).

Though funny, you should have left off the smart ass option at the bottom. Five choice polls don't work. Your poll will always have the same number for choice four and five.

My answer, fixed low power scope.
