Good info but 2700 fps still seems underpowered I wonder how it really shoots I guess as long as every round shoots the same as far as FPS goes they should be resonably accurate.

a 75 grain bullet at 2,750 fps seems underpowered? MK262 Mod 1 only runs at 2,780 fps from a SPR
75gr at 2700+ fps is underpowered? Somebody get this man a .50 BMG stat. |
Sounds pretty darned good! I'm really curious what this projectile will end up looking like. |

I finally might give wolf a try if this turns out the way I am hoping it will. At least then no one will make fun of me for wanting to use Wolf
I'd rather have something that fragments earlier than the Mk262. Something more along the line of the TAP/Black Hills rounds.. |
Thanks for this silly interjection........I guess you won't need any! |

More for us. |

I am not even concerned with terminal effectiveness. I just pray it has a velocity and BC similar to the 75 grain 5.56 pressure TAP I use so it can be a cost effective training round for intermediate distances. Say out to 200 yards.

Don't know if your aware of it, but your comments are far more inane than Forest's. Read the Ammo-Faq lately, guess not or you'd know that what Forest referred to in his post is the longer "neck" exhibited by the 77grn SMK (the bullet currently in the MK 262 load) when compared to the "neck" on the 75grn Hornady MBTHP round. This sounds like pretty good news. I'm a blaster of 5.56, as I've got several M16's, and I've never paid much attention to Wolf, as I didn't care for the steel cases, however, it appears that Wolf is now making "standard" 55 grain brass and the "new" 75 grain brass? Good news.
I won't buy much 75 grain, it'd be a waste to blast out of 11.5 inch barrels, but I suppose if we were overwhelmed by zombies?????? Might have to keep a battle pack. The other news I'd like to confirm is the brass 7.62x39 ammo. Is it true Wolf will be selling brass x39? Anyone have any idea of price? This is what I really need. Vector isn't selling the Cheetah and I need a few cases of x39 brass rounds. (for a shorty x39 upper on my 16) It looks like Wolf might be getting orders regularly from me for the first time. Cases and cases!! |
yes. |
If this stuff runs about the same price as their 55gr, I'll have to try some and if it works well I'll get a lot more of it.
I don't know about you guys, but the Hornady TAP 75 gr runs and shoots great in my 16 carbine. Off just a front bag on the bench it's hovering right arount MOA, which is good enough for me for SHTF type usage. Hopefully this wolf will shoot similarly so I can use it as a training round equivalent to the TAP.

+1 but that's a big if |
Anybody have a side-by-side pic of 7.92x57 / 7.62x54? |
How in the world would they pull that off...? Edit: I wouldn't mind it if they put the 75gr. stuff in sealed battlepacks though! If this 75gr. stuff comes to market and is priced right for what it is ... Prvi Partizan is going to be a very, very busy ammo plant. I would be in for a few K easy, probably a lot more. |

FMD, we should have access real soon to this stuff. IM on the way. |

Simmons Diversified connection? |
Kind semi-sorta. More like the Kaboom connection |
7.62X54 isn't in that picture (although thats a good comparison pic)
Doc I'm working on getting my hands on a case of this stuff. I'd be more then happy to send some to you if/when I do. |
Oops. Guess I was thinking x51, as it would make sense (to me) for them to go there instead of 30.06... |
tag
as long as its budget and provides better short/med/long range ballistics over xm193s, i'm interested |
No 30-06 is 7.62x63 |
Good point, however if they are mucking around with a new bullet design I think it will be off enough that I might as well continue with M193 for a training round. We'll see. |
I'm pretty sure .30-06 is more than 3mm longer than .308... |
Isn't .30-06 7.62x63? |

I have heard a lot of the Wolf-a-phobes go on about not letting the stuff near their ARs. But after reading David's overview of just who Wolf really is, I believe all those pre-conceived notions are largely unfounded People associate Wolf with cheap Russian steel-cased ammo. But the reality is the cheap Russian stuff is simply their low-end offering, and not their 'only product'. Hardly so. and for gunwritr: was it developed for 1/9, and better performing there vs. 1/7? |
Huh? Go read up on the latest ammo research at the ammo oracle. The heavy 77 grain HP bullet was put in MK262 so that it would have better terminal balistics in _short_ barrels. Since wolf is trying to basically copy that performance with their new 75, it should perform much _better_ than 55 grain or 62 grain fmj's in your 11.5" barrel. |
