Hi everyone

I am planning on a new AR-15 to use for 3 gun non open class and have narrowed it down to these 2 companies buy colt 6920 out of the box or build one using LMT upper and an RRA lower?

1 need it to be reliable
2 need min chance of malfunctions

i have noticed that the 2 setups will be approx the same $,$$$

Get a RRA Entry Tactical

No reason to spend big $$ when you can get just as good of a rifle for a lot less.

But if you really only want to choose between the two you have listed, get the Colt LE6920.

My favorite Colt is my 6920- I think you would find it to be extremely reliable. I wont's say that Colt's are better than others like many people do. I'll just say There has to be something to the fact that, in many cases, people use the expression : just as good as a Colt. Your doing the right thing by getting as many opinions as possible. It will help you make the decision. Good luck.

+1 on the RRA Entry Tactical (OTD for $840.00 here) ~ only ar I own that is not a Colt. Awesome trigger! But between the original 2 choices, Colt.

Build the LMT.
Buy an assembled lower and buy an assembled upper.
The fire control pins are oversized on the Colt and may cause issues with the addition of a match trigger.

I thought Colt did away with the non mil-spec pin size nonsense?

I think they may or may have not done away with the oversized "push" pins, but not the oversized trigger pins.

Check out this thread for a lot of options for getting a 6920.

I recently got mine from Clyde Armory. Their last shipment is sold, but they have some more on the way. They also just raised the price $20.

A LE6920 may involve a little waiting. I'd get my name on a few lists.

I havn't shot my Colt since putting my LMT build together.

But, a Colt will have better resale value...if that's a factor.

We got dealer status w/ LMT and if the wait is anything like it was early/mid last year, you're going to get the Colt quicker.
That said, there isn't a heck of a big dealer price difference between the two... Except that dealers kick the Colt rifle up a little higher.

That one site has really good prices on the Colt... But, that isn't dealer cost +5%. Still a great price though.

I have both Colt's and LMT's and prefer the LMT's. Colt's do have better resale value, however, their lack of milspec fire control pins is a 'turn-off' IMHO. If you don't have the time to wait, get the Colt; if you do have the time, go LMT.
