came off a colt rifle (i just found this out, so i'm guessing it was made by colt?)
castle nut is the one with the little holes, instead of the new style.
it is black, not grey. it does not feel like it is rubber coated like the sling swivel. i will have my camera back within a few days. so i will post pics when i can.

I suppose it's possible, but I've never seen a Colt aluminum stock w/anything stamped on it. Also, the two tightening holes on the collar go all the way thru, so you can see the threads thru the holes. The coating will be a smooth, kind of shiny, finish, very firm feeling. Not semi soft like the coating on the sling swivels. Finally, the butt will be checkered, though then checkering is semi filled in by the coating.
Oh yeah, the back plate is almost always a lighter shade of parkerizing than the collar.
