For my 16" Bushy.  What should I expect to pay?

I just recieved my YHM specter length FF handguard from Brightflashlights.  I paid $97 for it and it is very sturdy!  It is longer than the standard carbine guard (mine is 9.75" and the carbine is like 7").  Installation was a snap and customer service was excellent.  Look them up in the indistry forum, you won't be dissapointed. I'll post pics as soon as I get some taken.

Depends what length you want. I paid $89 for my YHM lightweight carbine length from Bravo Company USA.

I have a carbine so I thought it was only one length?  Just something to replace the handguards I currently have.

IF your going to replace your current handguards, may I suggest going for aluminum quad rail systems versus the cheap plastic rail systems.   Bushmaster makes a nice one that comes in 2 pieces so you dont need to remove your front sight and gas tube.   I believe you can pick it up for $179.00      http://www.bushmaster.com/shopping/bmas/yhm-9670.asp

Of course, that presumes you are not looking for a FF rail.

I think the YHM 2-piece handguards are an incredible bargain for what you get.  It is as KAC like as you can get for about 1/3 of the price.  If I didn't FF everything I own, I'd have no problem getting YHM 2-piece handguards.

If you don't want to mess around with your barrel nut, don't mind the lack of FF, these are definitely worth your money.  All the YHM stuff I have is excellent quality for the $$.

I don't think I want a free float.  Is there a compelling reason too get it?  Or isn't that for match rifles?

Free float will show benefit an nearly all setups, especailly ones that use slings and/or bipods.

No need for a sling ot bipod.  Any other benefits?  Wait, don't I have to remove my front site post?  If so I don't want to bother with it.  The 2-piece is probably the way to go.

YHM 2 piece the same thing Bushmaster sells way better than Surefire and better cost
I got one from Denny's guns GTS for 129 and one from Bright Flashlights for 120 Shipped.
You won't be sorry, but they don't come with panels.... I used the Magpul panels.

The FIRSH is highly under rated. It is a free float unit and is very solid due to its dual locking nut and one piece design. I have one on a LW carbine and it works great. It weighs the same as the YHM LW unit, is true 1913 spec, and only costs $99.

There are FF options out there that don't require a FSB removal.  Troy MRF, KAC RASII, ARMS SIR, GG&G?? (can't remember) and probably more.  If the FSB removal is the only thing holding you back from FFing, you have no excuse now.

lol, nah I don't want to buy tools and screw with  barrel removal either.  I just scored a YHM 2-piece off of EE anyway.

Dual locking nut?  Do you mean that tiny screw that is supposed to tighten the FF around the barrel nut?
Mine never really locked it in position, even with locktite.  I think if the upgraded the screw to something meatier they might get the desired effect.  Couldn't be bothered to mess with it anymore after repositioning it after every session, sold mine.

ETA:  I don't think they are true 1913 spec, at least they don't make that claim.  It would be a big plus if they were, but most systems aren't either.

Evidently you have one of the earlier models. My FIRSH uses TWO larger screws and locks up very tight. I tried to torque it loose with the vertical fore grip and it wouldn't even budge.

The Oly website states that the FIRSH is picatinny standard and my KAC accessories fit it perfectly.

I'm getting a Daniel Defense.  I was planning on getting a YHM but then I figured if I am going to build a top notch upper I might as well pay the extra $120 and get a top notch rail system.

Grant, I have a show this w/e and I'll get a chance to try some YHM new models with some TD VG.  I'll keep you all advised.

As you all undoubtedly know I have done the reviews on them, www.ar15reviews.com, I have not updated the info on the Pic specs, but the reader can get a feel for both in their respective reviews.  HTH.

Would you like to elaborate more on the different products? I'm planning on getting a FF my rifle, but thought I would have to pay an extra $100 or so to have a gunsmith work on it due to the permanent flash hider. I was not aware they made FF tubes that did not require the removal of the FSB so any help would be appreciated.

That depends... Which Magpul panels did you get?

If you ordered the XT panels, then 3 will do it.  If you got the older version, there was a 5 rail and a 15 rail version (I believe).  In that case, it's 9 for the 5-rail and 3 for the 15 rail.

I really REALLY like the XT panels on my DD forend.

Is there any reason to get a non FF rail system over a FF one? Most of the YHM free floats are only $10 more than their non FF counter parts. I am making a A4 clone what should I use?

I bought the YHM 2 peice (just replace regular issue handguards) from Bravo Company for $103. and I think they are the same ones Bushmaster sells for 179.00 They serve my purpoes and don't move an inch.  Great value.  Also on the short barreled carbines I think the FF are not that beneficial. My opinion.
