Everybody is freaking out about some guy using a 223 for bear hunting! How many of us have capped a whitetail with a 22LR? I have. Clean Kill!

I killed a small doe for camp meat one year with a .177 caliber pellet riflle while squirrel hunting the weekend before deer season. It was an RWS model 45 that shot at 1100 fps, and at about 10 feet away(no toy by any means). I aimed for the forehead and figured if it penetrated the skull, it would kill it, and if it didn't, there wouldn't be any real harm to the deer. I used rws pointed pellets.

Rimfires are illegal for deer here, but I am aware of it having been done...

I know a guy that runs hounds for coons and regularly jacks deer and drops 'em w/ one round in the snout. Not zactly legal.

I shot a doe in SD with a 223 loaded with a 55gr Nosler Blt about a 85yd shot broad side. Bullet blewup on impact leaving a 3"plus entrance hole , fragments penitrated lungs and heart.The deer ran 100yds flat out then fell over dead. If I hadn't seen the bullet hit I would have guessed I had missed as the deer never flinched on impact or gave any indication that she had been hit at all.Recommend Nosler 60gr solid bass partitions or wild cat like 300 whisper 7TCU 6TCU .

35 years ago my friends old man poached a trophy buck out of his kitchen window with a .22LR. One shot, distance was right around 25yards and he's got the rack mounted in his front room.

Yeap and a game warden will sure bust your ass for it too! We have these hunting regs. for a reason and most of them are very lagitimate, unlike most firearm laws.

You know, I firmly believe that some people shouldnt own guns, and some of you have proved my case, can it be done, yes, does it assure a fast, sure kill, HELL NO!

You gotta be up there with the guys that shoot a 30 pound bear cub, just because its legal.

How many wounded or crippled animals have you left out there, seriously, you give Hunters a bad name............

Inuit in North Alaska use .22 LR to take Caribou fro boats. Its legal too. They catch them when theyy are trying to cross the river.

I grew up in Texas and hunted all my life. Now I have not done something this stupid in a LONG time but when I was younger I used to kill MANY a deer with a 22lr., and I mean MANY. Lots and lots of deer. Now remember this was YEARS ago and I have since changed my wayward ways but I can attest to the fact that the 22lr is one killin little bastard.

IIRC you can only use .22 caliber to hunt deer in Scotland County, NC.
