How does the Phantom do with XM193? Still a Big fireball but not as huge? Small flash? No flash?
I saw some pics somewhere, I just cant remember.  Thanks. |

I use the old style (original) phantom. When I shoot at night without night vision, I see what amounts to a spark coming out of each of the four ports. When I'm using my NV, the flash appears much bigger, of course. It's still small enough for my NV to instantly recover.
I use 14.5" barrels. They say the new Phantoms are better at suppressing flash than the one's I'm using. |

I have a new style phantom, a new style votex, and my buddy is putting an old style phantom on his M4, so we will have three different flash suppressors on three 14.5 inch rifles to compare. I will take pics with M193 when I can and post them.

I have the semi-new Phantom, the 5 port closed end from BM.
I shot SA Battle Pack stuff at dusk, had a pretty sizable orange glow. Don't know about 193 tho (is that the same as SA stuff?) edited to add ; used with a 14.5 barrel |

I dont know about the SA. I have a bunch but I do not recall the HUGE flash that I get with the Federal XM193. The SA stuff says its 193 spec, but I think the jacket is somewhat differtent in respect to fragmentation. J&T just got mine finished I will have it tomorrow, Ill try Q3131A, XM193, and SA battlepacks. Ill post results if I can remember.

No flash from my 5 port using Q3131A. Every now and then an occasional spark as mentioned earlier but nothing I would classify as a flash. I'm going to try some low light shooting this weekend. I will let you know what my results are.

To answer the question. XM193, Q3131A, and white box have no noticable flash to shooter. Before, at dusk the XM193 had enough flash to make bystanders thinks you had a Kaboom, with the "tactical" muzzle brake.

I had the old phantom on my 14.5 M4; Q3131A and SS109, very little flash.

Yankee hill now makes a 5 port closed bottom phantom for$25 and brownells sells it for $21 I have both the Bushmaster 5 port and the newer closed bottom and they are great.

I fired my phantom next to my vortex the other day and I swear that the phantom works better. (same ammo, same barrel length).
