standard handguards are not sturdy enough for most mounting applications, but I've seen flashlights and bipods mounted on the A2 handguard.

what are those magpul rail covers for. they go over picatiny rail?

Phobia's link shows rails you can attach to a handguard, how well they will work depends on a few different things, I guess.
I do have a Harris bipod attached to a handguard of a regular AR, works okay |

Attach anything you want on plastic handguards.
It may take a significant amount of duct tape tho. And... uhh... skip the optics. - BG |
