Anyone know the correct O-ring size to use as an extractor helper (you know, like a "D-fender", etc.) Preferably the correct standard "dash number" from a chart such as this one:

www.marcorubber.com/sizingchart.htm

Thanks!

That's a good question. I'd like to know that too as I work for an O-ring company. Yup, no kidding. O-rings pay for all my toys.  Billion dollar a year business all for little (sometimes very big) o-rings.

#60 0-ring, preferably made of Viton as it's more resistant to solvents.

There is no "#60" on the chart at www.marcorubber.com/sizingchart.htm. That means I can't buy any, since none of the O-ring suppliers I am familiar with use anything except a chart like that. Can anyone identify what a "#60" is in terms of that chart? MK1iii, you're an O-ring pro , what do you say?

Go to LOWES.......... they sell 10 pac for $1.29 I think it is, look around the faucet repair stuff.

Sears Hardware is another to visit, they come in single pacs, and the dimensions is both packs I think.

4mm ID Viton o-rings.  Viton is the only way to go, conventional rubber o-rings will melt.  Mine hasn't melted after 200 rapid fire rounds.

Got mine for free when I want to an o-ring warehouse.  They only sold to distributors, but gave me a little sack of them.  The guys there said the o-rings, Viton or not, are only pennies each.  I felt guilty, so I bought them a box of Krispy Cremes.

These things are magic.  One of my AR10s was failing to eject every round... put in one of these rings and it works like a charm every time.

Oh, by the way, the O-rings I ordered yesterday afternoon, after seeing this thread?

Well, McMaster-Carr chose the "Best Delivery Method" for my order, and they just arrived.

Excellent service.  Too bad with the 50 I ordered, I don't think I'll need to deal with them again any time soon.

Cheers, Otto
