What are the differences? I have a NIB 6400c I'm thinking of selling to finance a 6920 after 9/14.

Would this be a good or bad move?

I think the barrel length is different.
Obvious pre ban stuff and the weight.
Is your 6400 marked "Colt Defense".

Keep it and have it turned into a preban. I think you would lose money in a trade.
