What was the range?

.223 as a sniper weapon? IBTL

Range was 100 yards, and NO, this is not a sniper weapon.  The build is solely for paper and varmint hunting.

We all catch a few good groups from time to time. You don't need a 12 lb. "tricked rifle".
Stock RRA 16" bbl. with Simmons 9x scope, std trigger.
Handloads at 100 yards. I forgot I had shot the left bull, hence the 6 shot group ( old age handicap LOL).
( BTW, I am 63 years old and available to demonstrate this on demand)

Now thats what I like to see,  Standard rifles shining in the hands of a good shooter.

BTW, I personally feel that the 5.56/.223 has it's place as a "sniper" round.  Before you start to flame...I temper this opinion with the caution that the shooter must be a well trained and disciplined shooter who is extreamly familiar with his weapon.

If I were to have a 5.56/.223 for such use, it certainly would not have a scope over 10X and I would definately not have a 24" barrel on it.  It would be set up to shoot dead-on at 100 yards, with that being the maximum intended range.

Now, with that said, flame away .

Yep, I've seen him do it.

And, since he loads my ammo for my bench gun for free, I will swear that he does this all the time.
