I was told that the Colt 9mm AR15 carbine is not gas operated but blowback operated.  If this is correct is there a difference in collapsible stocks for the two?  The reason I ask is a buddy has a collapsible stock that he had on his 9mm carbine that he's not using and will sell to me for my .223

Colt 9mm collapsible stock are the same exact stock as the M4 stock with difference in the buffer and probably the spring rate.  The buffer in the 9mm stock is heavier even then the Colt H buffer.  It will work fine in your M4.  I too have a 9mm stock on one of my M4.
