Has anyone used fangible or "non-lead" ammunition in there AR-15?  I have seen reports on this ammo and the benefits of it in light of shooting range clean up costs.  Has anyone been to a range that required it? SigArms Academy is one that I know of.  I have only seen one company that makes it www.simunition.com

Anyone has an opinion?

"green" ammunition is being tested by the military, but so far from what I have read they aren't that great, ballistics wise, compared to regular ammo. of course that doesn't mean the the military is switching over to it exclusively.....that type of ammo will only be used on ranges, and not in battle.

I bet this type of ammo is going to be more expensive then surplus ball ammo.

my opinion of 'green" ammo.....I wouldn't waste my money on something like this, when there is cheaper alternatives out there.

and no range that I know requires only that ammo to be fired....there isn't a federal mandate for that ammo to be used.....besides that if a range does require that ammo, you can be sure that not too many people will be going to that range, and that range will probably go out of business.
