Thank god this purchase is fully tax deductible.  I went an ordered my Bushmaster XM15 E2S in the A3 flavor (est 3-4 week delivery), an EOTech 512, Surefire 500a, a tactical sling, ARMS pop up rear sight, and a heavy duty Pelican case to protect all this in the trunk of my cruiser.
Don't even have the grand total yet.  They'll be sending me to final order soon on the package price.
I can't wait to get it all set up and start shooting it.  Then the fun 3 day qualification course for me to carry it on duty in a couple months.  We shoot for 2 1/2 of the 3 days.  It will probably be about 2000 rounds.

Good thinking on that Pelican case.

Bah, with LE pricing it'll probably cost you half what the rest of us have to pay.  Enjoy!

It seemed like alot of money for the case, but also a no brainer decision.  Too much money invested to let it get beat up.  Not to mention, it could save my life, so I want the gun to work should I need it.

LOL..true....I think the gun is around $749.  I know the Surefire light alone is $389.  So I'm expecting the total to be around $1500-1600.
They threw in a free case of ammo too.  :)

Here's the important question, do you get to make it FA?

The place I got it from supplies lots of local LE agencies, but also LOTS of stuff for the Special Ops Command at McDill AFB in Tampa.  They can barely keep stuff in stock.  The gun includes 3 30 rnd mags, but I will only get 1 until the backorders come in.  The military is buying so much replacement stuff, many things are on backorder.  That is why the expected delivery of my gun is 3-4 weeks.  He said normally it is 1 week.
I can deal with it though, the military has a higher priority than I do.  I still have the 12 ga with slugs for now.

Nope, department policy forbids it.  I am just thankful to be able to carry a carbine.  We are the only agency in the county that has authorized them so far for non-SWAT guys/gals.

If you can handle the extra weight, the LE price for Beta C mags (100-Round Drums) are only around $250.  That'll take care of your ammo needs as well as if you ever intend to make it full auto.

Friend of mine is on the PD in oregon.  Apparently they don't have SWAT, so everyone he knows carries FA Glocks w/30 round clips and other "evil" types of entry weapons.

I've never, ever seen a 30-round clip.

Cool! I know you dropped a few bucks but you will love it. I just put together about the same thing. I wish mine was tax deductible. [:D]
Just took a pic. Here it is.

Just list it on your tax forms as a "security system" :D

Yeah, I like the tax deductions for guns.  I buy about 1 a year and write it off.  Last year was the Remington 870 pump slug gun with composite stocks and rifle sights.  Don't know what next years will be.

Is that the police magnum?  I've got a marine magnum myself and am quite impressed with it.

No magnum, just an 870 with a rifled barrel with rifle sights for slugs instead of buckshot.  That 1 oz. hunk of lead leaves BIG holes.

How does a rifled barrel compare to rifled slugs?  It's too bad the remingtons are terrible with Mini-Shells.  I've still got a couple boxes of rifles slugs and buckshot sitting in my safe that I'll never get to use (they frequently load backwards into the chamber of the remys).

I ordered my Bushmaster on 3/22/03 with an $80 deposit.  Visited the store two weeks later and paid $800 so that when it arrived, I wouldn't have to pay any more, and to encourage a quick delivery.  Well, I didn't pick up my ALREADY PAID FOR rifle until June 6th!  The store was (mostly) friendly & helpful, as well as Bushmaster Customer Service (which was GREAT!) but I waited THREE months!

Hopefully you won't have to wait that long, but don't count on that 4-week quote.  Just trying to give you a heads-up.  I sure hope I'm wrong, 'cause if you're like me (which you probably are) you're itching to get your hands on it!  Especially with your plans - courses and all.

Enjoy!

Anthony
