I have a NIB Colt R6400 (yes, the Green Label on the box says R6400) with all the factory accessories (2 20 rounders) and manual.  Basically it's:

- A1 Upper with A2 Flash Hider and Bayo lug
- C MP 1/7 Nato marked barrel
- Slab side lower with no block.
- A2 hand guards
- I guess A2 fixed stock (not sure how to tell diff between A1 and A2 stock

What's it worth?  I've seen R6601 (Blue Label HBAR sporters with no lug and block) going for $1200 -1600.  I've seen Green Label R6600s going for $1800-$2200.  Asking prices of course.

I'm going to send an email to Colt (hopefully they take emails) to find out the history behind it since there doesn't seem to be any "records" of R6400s in any of the stuff I've seen (including model number lists on this and other sites).

Thanks for the info.

James

The prices you've listed are way way too high. Think of them as MSRP, something no one with an ounce of sense ever pays, IMO.

Prebans are going for about $1200, sometimes a bit less, depending on what part of the country one is in.

extremist,
I've done better communicating with Colt with a phone call.
Check with "stokes" here on AR15.com as he will likely have info re your rifle.  Production numbers, etc.

Just to be sure, yours is the rifle and not the carbine ??

Yes, it a 20" barrel rifle, not the carbine.  I will try and drop Stokes a note.

As for price, I've not seen any NIB Colt Preban models go for under 1600 unless it's an old SP1.

I've got to believe that the R6400 has some unique appeal as a Colt collector since no one seems to have cataloged that part number in their list. :D

James

Called Colt today.  All she could tell me for "free" was that it was made before 1991, she guessed 1985-1989.

Costs $25 to do history trace on it to find out
- How it left the factory
- Where it went
- How many of that particular model
- etc.

Pics are up on my website now:

Don't forget to contact Stokes and also you might give Cactus Jack a try.  Cactus is worth about $50 million and only buys the real high dollar stuff !!

I doubt you are going to find many lookers, and even less takers at the $2200 price tag you are asking.  Who knows, maybe you will find someone who "needs" that particular model to fill a collection.  Good luck.

Stokes,
Thanks for the response.  I agree, it looks just like the R6500, and as you can see from the label on the box, it is not a mismarked label, probably some kind of transition model before the R6500 came out.

I've got a:
- NIB R6400
- LNIB R6450 (maybe 200 rounds fired-original owner)
- LN No Box R6600 (unknown rounds, but looks 95%)
- NIB R6601K (R6601 packaged with .22LR Kit)
- Put together R6500 lower with pencil barrel 16" A2 upper.
- 95% Bushmaster XM15E2S A2 Carbine with 16" HBAR 1/9 barrel (preban bought 9/94 right before ban)

So my collection is not super, but not bad. :D

I guess I'll hang onto it for now.

Regards,
James
