Here are some pictures of my little carbine.  After much reading here and thought I went with a 14.5 inch M-4 style barrel lengthened to the appropriate minimum length.  The color was something I asked about here and ended up going with the majority view that Colt gray would be best.  I really like this rifle and can't wait to test it out. Here are the pictures.

I need to find one, but want something nice like the Diemaco I have on the Colt Canada clone. That one looks a lot like a Diemaco. They make standing tbe rifles up MUCH easier. Those CAR stock like to slide all over the place.

Made this out of my Colt 6720 and some spare parts I had lying around. It’s starting to become my favorite rifle.

Not sure if this belongs here, but couldnt find a dedicated topic for it-

Finished my Black Hawk Down / 1993 Delta inspired clone today.  Definitely tried to save some cash in some parts, so I'm sure some of you are going to tear me apart for some things.  Ended up doing an extended a2 pin and weld with an a1 lower I had from my Holland.  At the end of the day I am extremely stoked on how it turned out and cant wait to shoot it.

Also- big shoutout to @5pt56 for the Aimpoint!

My KISS rifle. Upper is a collection of parts I completely forgot i had and found. A1 upper, Colt SOCOM barrel, have no clue what brand the drop-in rail is. Purchased a complete lower locally from an ARFcommer the other day to finish the rifle. Still need a sling and light to go on the rifle and then she will be my new truck gun. This rifle is way more accurate than I am. I definitely to get out to the range more. The metal mag in there is the only metal mag I have left. No clue what happened to the other ones I had.

Not sure if it fits everyone’s definition, but it’s about as KISS as I get.  Sling not pictured, but it’s a BFG Vickers 2-point:

You built what I have planned. I wanted an Aimpoint 5000, but they are not readily available. The one I see on ebay is going for $500 (was $595) and it is a 2x version. He used to have an offer and I offered him $450. He keep relisting it and it doesn't sell. I still need a barrel and I have a similar surefire light clamp in my parts box. I will also be going 14.5" pin and weld with slight extension. Saving your pictures for inspiration.

Time for a new sling on one of my old 6520 carbines.  Has the old style 2 position stock and plain old black web sling that came in the accessory pack.
Been looking at the IDF slings and wondered what is the latest and greatest for KISS rifles.
Suggestions welcomed

Of all the sling options out there, I've settled on a no-frills USGI General Purpose strap for a sling. Paracord loops to attach the clips.

I’ve been meaning to type IWC forever. Do you think the screws for that mount would clear the gas tube on the smaller/narrower regular carbine handguards?

I doubt the screws will clear the gas tube on the skinny hand guards.
I was going to slap a rail onto the top of mine but screws would hit gas tube.
I have the fat hand guards too but will have to drill through the heat shields,
so I haven't got around to doing it yet.

I'm probably going to get the IWC mount as well.

I'm using the Elezetta mount right now and it's ok.

You can trim the heat shield in skinny hand guards to clear the IWC light mount screw tabs.

more of a KISS, not IDF.

Green Mountain 14.7 CL pencil barrel
Brownells C7A1 upper
AIM NIB BCG
A1 FH
A2 pistol grip, finger nub filed off
CAR butt stock
flat slip-ring
tear-drop FA

modern concessions:
BCM ambi CH, Geissele SSA-E, KNS Gen G pins, ambi safety, YHM take-down/pivot pins, POF QD end plate, MagPul MSA QD-MOE sling mount on skinny HG.  3Bucc carry-handle brass-catcher adapter shown.

0.625" A2 FSB, pinned by JT Retro Arms Works, along with P&W A1 FH.  First-class job!

ETA: i was able to gently push the alum HG shield off of it's plastic posts, to do the drilling for the MSA QD mount, screw attachment.  When done, just pushed the alum shields back on.  I slightly dremeled the ribs so it would sit flush.

I am in the process of building a IDF clone and have ordered a replacement vintage style stock, a handguard band, a butt stock band, and an IDF two point sling. My AR will end up as a "look like" as the rifle I have to put these on is a Del-Ton pencil barrel carbine with a detachable carry handle.

I have viewed all of the photos in this thread and I am unclear as to how to tie the front and rear of the sling to the rifle. Is there a proper IDF way, or do most just use whatever works to tie off the front and rear sling?

Any information you can provide on correct sling attachment would be helpful to me, and I will attach a photo here once I have all the parts installed. Some parts are coming from Israel so it could be a while.

Thanks
