1) What are those forearms and stock 'wraps'?

2) What would be considered 'IDF touches'?

1) They are elastic bands that I have been told are used to help with grip and stability. Stability meaning making sure the handguards don't come of and like on my stock, to make sure it has tension. They do provide excellent grip.

2) IDF touches to me is adding of the A1 pistol grip and the A1 flash hider. An M4 barrel on an A1 upper is also very IDF-ish. mvician has the mag holder. I need that yet. Also adding the flat delta ring is a must for any true IDF clone. Don't forget the IDF sling and paracord to attach it.

I went through as many pics as I could find and I put together what I believe is a  very accurate clone.

Thanks for the info. Where can I get those bands, or are they home-made?

You can cut a bicycle innertube into little rubber donuts and make them.

Sabre Defence also makes one that is slightly longer just for that purpose... here you go...

Actually if you take a closer look you will notice they are cloth with elastic in them. Like a really coarse cross between spandex and cordura.

Oh, I see. On the same page there was a "ranger band" type thing on another rifle's fore end and I was confused. The innertube suggestion was for that.

The elastic cloth ones can be bought(in response to the question if they are homemade or not. Carry on.

And A1 uppers with case deflectors and M4 barrels.

Some of these are being built with vintage A1 receivers and current production barrels. Not really sure what you mean by A2 style sight bases. Later A1 bases look just like current production.

CMMG also makes a barrel that is 14.7 inches, so you can perm attach a standard A2 flash hider.
To my eye, a barrel that is .2" longer is less noticeable than an elongated flash hider.  Strictly personal preference.

Mine looks just like UNKA-BOO's (I have a POF lower).  I have an Isreali sling and the "bands" on order.  Started as a CAR build.  A1 sights are soo practical, can you tell me why we went to the A2 sights ?  Can't wait to shoot this barrel out to upgrade to a CMMG 14.7 M4 and have the complete Isreali/C7/KISS look.

This is as simple as I’ve got...

My little Colt "Commando" SBR, and my GUU-5P clone. The GUU still needs more authentic parts; PG and would like to get a "retro" lower.

BTT I think these are some of the coolest and most practical ARs there are. I think the Model 653/654s are highly underrated. They are light. simple, accurate and compact. In the original barrel length they aren't much longer than an XM177 but have better ballistics, although an M4 barrel doesn't weigh that much more and probably is more accurate once it heats up. Nice rifles guys!

Thanks. Was really hoping to find an old PWA A1 style lower for the GUU project, but it’s looking like it isn’t going to happen. Thinking now I’ll use the NDS XM16E1 lower when they get the anodized ones out.
