Converting a .300 BO upper to .223 with a few changes while keeping some things the same.
I've been looking around for days and was getting tired up not being able to find everything I wanted at the same place. Dreaded the idea of paying shipping and waiting on 2 or 3 or even 4 different orders to come in.
I've never ordered from Del-Ton before, looked, but never ordered.
Just happened, a couple days ago, they had everything I wanted in stock but a gas tube roll pin (and I have spares of that).
I grabbed the credit card, looked through the parts, examined the specs on the chrome lined barrels and placed my order for a barrel and the other parts I figured I'd need.
Wow, shipping by ground was free. Great.
Even better, they're located in NC, just a few hours from me. I got my order two days later.
Barrel was darned clean. Cleanest new barrel I've bought in years.
No gas port burrs in the barrel. Can't say that for some barrels I've bought that cost 2X and more what this one cost.
Got the barrel clean, disassembled the old bolt and checked headspace. Right where I like it. Closed on the Go ga. a little loosely and would not close on the No Go ga.
Put the bolt back together, started to put some parts on the barrel getting ready to install it on the upper receiver and realized I had a castle nut, not a barrel nut. Came in to check the paperwork and sure enough, I'd ordered the wrong part. Getting ready to make out another order for a barrel nut right now.
Between the parts availability, the shipping and their close location to me I figure I'll be ordering from them again at some point. Even if this is my "last" AR15 build.
I've stopped telling my wife, "Yes honey, this is the last one. I don't need anymore."
Thanks Del-Ton, for the parts and fast shipping.
