I own both. Going to be in my first IDPA match in a couple weeks. What would be a better platform to learn on? In a standing position, I am more accurate with the G20, but the G26 has less recoil. What do you guys think? I'm leaning towards g20.

For your first match you'll have so much to think about that you won't even notice the recoil.  Shoot the one you are most comfortable with.  Watch what goes on around you,  pay attention to what other shooters do.  You aren't going to win anything so take it nice and easy and learn from your first match.  Above all else though, enjoy the experience because they ARE a helluva lot of fun.

Thanks!

I handled both unloaded pistols a few minutes ago and the g26 sights are almost dead on from a holster draw, g20 not so much. I guess a range session is in order. I may just end up using one this time and the other next time.

G26 for ammo cost and recoil

I’ve ran some of my better matches with a sub compact

Be careful you’ll get hooked.

Next you’ll want a G34 for the competitive edge, then when its too much to draw from concealment you’ll try a G19.  Curious about splitting the difference you’ll go G17.  If they have a BUG match and you see a G43 you’ll get one of those.  For one classifier a couple years down the road you’ll pull out your G20, and after shooting it you’ll think the .45 G21 is a better fit…pretty soon you’ll have the full set.

I’m trying to get all of the OD green Glock 9mms at the moment.  No real reason, just because.

The 26 will serve you well, and shooting in IDPA will make you more proficient than most of your peers who carry CCW.

Haha. Funny you mention that. I actually do want a glock 17, 17L or 34, 40MOS, and 43.

I also want to get into da/sa pistols for the SA part of it, and that will open up a whole new series of pistols, yikes.
