Sight in when you get there. At a range before getting into back country if possible. Or take another suitable rifle already sighted in with appropriate ammo. |

Elevation change can effect the ballistics, it's better to get to your destination, and then establish a zero. |

You need to make sure you zero with the ammo you're going to hunt with, otherwise you shouldn't be shooting at living creatures.
Shoot it once you get there, zero it for whatever distance you want, and then go out a few hundred more yards to get a drop. From that you should be able to make a useful chart from an app. I use Strelok Pro. |

I always check zero and dope at hunting camp...Hell most of the time I also drag along the crony and verify velocity..but not needed if your dope is good..
This is from checking zero and dope for this years hunt..4 shots(left) at 100 yards for zero and 3 shots(right) at 858 yards for dope...  Attached File |
