Reminds me of an old cartoon:

Two farmers are looking out at their fields.

One says to the other, "....record yield this year Fred...."

Fred says, "yep, couple more years like this and we'll be ruined...."

Yeah, it’s nasty stuff . I always wear chem gloves and goggles, and make sure I’m upwind when unhooking/hooking up (with a clear path to gtfo if something goes wrong ).

I finished up sidedressing today. Ran strong yesterday, then had to load fat hogs until 8:30 last night. So, I only had 20 acres to finish this morning. All of our sidedressing is done now (urea/anhydrous). After this unprecedented spring, we are sitting in pretty good shape overall. Had spots where we had to replant, and quite a few spots where corn drowned out but not worth smashing a bunch of good corn to spike in new. You can definitely tell what fields are tiled well. I feel for everyone dealing with this spring .

A lot can happen between now and when the corn is in the bin, but if we don’t have more weather issues (especially during pollination) we should have a decent yield.

Here are some pics and gifs from the last couple days, JD 8310r and Nutri-Placr 4300 (15 shanks, 37.5’ wide):

I pulled one of mine from under the shed to take pictures. Specifically so that I could compare it to how it looked when I brought it home. I want to find a hood guard (bumper) for it. If anyone knows where to find one that isn’t dealer priced, please let me know.

Thank you. I asked them a little while back. For what they want plus shipping, I might as well buy a new one.

That is what I was afraid of.  I've called a few of those "parting out" places and they think their rusty, stored outside for 10 years junk is worth new, old stock, prices.

Does your local high school have a vocational/tech place?  Maybe have a student make one for a project.

I want one of the factory ones. The other JD tractor (that I’ve been using since I was a child) has factory suitcase weights up front, so I’m used to having something I can push things with if necessary. This one also needs something to give a little protection when I’m bush hogging in tall brush. That grille assembly wasn’t exactly cheap, and I want to keep it nice.

Back at it.  Last 16 acres of first cut.  Field was new this year, super rough.  About 1/2 of it we're going to disk down. We'll drill all of it over again.

Not tractor again, but excavator...

Decided to dig out the big excavator from the barn. Our current manure area was drilling rig mats surrounded by concrete blocks.   My dad and I have decided to pour it all in concrete for ease of things, plus we're going to pour a 10 yard addition onto our feedlot area.

Those blocks weigh about 4000lbs a piece.  Yes, the chain is a stamped, certified lifting chain up to 7,000lbs.  Grade 120 or whatever.   We have a lot of certified lifting equipment since we own a crane, also we have a custom made lifting boom for the excavator and a counter weight that weighs in at 5000lbs, for the excavator.

Rig mats are piled up. We're going to put them at our gate crossings and bury them, so it doesn't get as deep/rutted.

A few trees went away too.  I have a nice pile going for firewood this fall.

Edit

This was after my neighbors buffalo got out.  I was chasing 24 buffalo across our hay fields at 630am in my f250.  Fortunately I was awake enough not to hit the wash outs..

Two got deaded, but the pictures are sort of graphic.

It's actually just small enough not to be a permit load!

The two deaded ones got taken to the butcher, so he'll make money on it.  The buffalo getting out will cost him about ~$1000 and a day.  He has to repair the landscaping at two near by homes. And they damaged a wheat field.

Glad to see I'm not the only one screwing up iron. Broke the PTO shaft off the Deutz while brush hogging the other day. Then broke the easy out off in the last stud! So I figure I'll drag it across the mountain tomorrow and let a real mechanic see if he can get the last stud out.

I am often 3-4 miles from the house working with my tractor without any support such as tools / water / food etc. i have been wanting to build a easy to reach tool basket on the front, and a bigger tool box on the rear, well i just got finished with them.  needed The basket is something to hold my rifle..phone, pistol, water bottles, and other random crap i need easy access to. iv got a gun rack im going to add to it as well when i get around to it. its also got a mounting spot for light switches, ( lower right side ) as im planning on adding a led light bar to the roll bar, another on the brush guard and work lights facing the rear.

Yes. I just welded up some angle to the footprint of the ammo can, welded a piece of flat across the middle for something to bolt the ammo can to, and then welded the whole thing to the support that runs between the fenders where the plastic tool box used to be. Don’t mind the long bolts....I have an idea for a mount to attach a 12 volt accessory plug to run a spray rig that will sit in my carryall.

Nice!  You taking orders?!

Have a slew of new toys coming in for my L3800 this week

- Tuff top canopy
- 2 LED light bars
- 3rd function valve
- 48" grapple
- 6" rear wheel spacers    We just picked up another 20 acres (of more hills) and I figured with the extra seat time I'd rather risk wearing out some wheel bearings or snapping an axle than roll it.

I worked on a power company ROW crew back in the late 70s and my Boss had one of those with a cab and air, dual rear wheels, and a Marvel tree cutter. I had a 4400 and a heavy-duty shredder and we ran dozer blades on both tractors. I would meet him mid-span and he would hold up his cold can of coke and turn down the air and I flipped him the bird. Good times.
