He come home from Iraq before Thanksgiving and spent a few of those holidays with us and never mentioned anything about being wounded. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, he called me late from LeJune one night and told me what happened. He's home tonight and I'm so proud of him.
1st: His unit was in their hummers and his received a burst of machine gun fire and he got hit above his right collarbone and his left elbow. Luckily no bones were hit. 2nd: He was the turret gunner when his hummer hit an IED and he was thrown from the hummer and recieved a concusion and shrapnel wounds. The reason he didn't tell me was that he didn't want to alarm and upset me. Once again I'm so proud of him. Just thought I'd share. ETA: My boy is only 19 and was wounded twice in combat. My emotions have been strong until he told me this. He is my hero. |
|
Ours too! Tell him we said thanks, and we're glad he is OK! |

I do agree! |

Shake his hand and buy him a drink for me. Screw the 21 law. Any MAN that has gotten it twice sure as hell deserves some good drinks.

We just had a few. |

I think Wisconsin allows service members to drink even if under 21. |

Plus 1,000,000 |

Too bad no commands will allow it, and will bust you down in a heartbeat for it. |

Except if your initials are JFK |

I was just about to add the same exact statement! Remember MASH? When Frank Burns gets a purple heart for an injury from a "shell fragment"? An EGGSHELL fragment? Shades of John F**khead Kerry! CJ |

Got to add my + to this one |

|
Thank you. |

It is MEN like your son that gives me hope for the next generation.
You are rightfully proud of that man. May God guard and guide him and return him safely to his family. |
|
I can only imagine how proud you are.
Give him a firm handshake and hearty "Thank you" from the ARFCom Crew. |
|
Thanks, I sure will. |
|
|
As impressive it is for your son to have been wounded twice in combat for our country it is doubly so for his modesty and consideration for his family. You have a great son and patriot . God bless him. |

Count me in with the positive statements made by all the others and include, that I'm glad he hasn't suffered any severe disabling wounds.
May the angel continue to fly on his shoulder! |
|
Your son is an outstanding young man.
He has my gratitude and heartfelt thanks. Glad he's OK. He does the USMC proud! |
|
Trying to keep you from worrying... did ya smack him?
God bless your dear son. Please thank him for me. |
|
Make sure he looks in to see if his state gives any financial bennies to PH recipients. Some of them are well worth it.

It is obvious that a wonderful man has raised a wonderful son.
God bless your family, and thank your son again for his service. Merry Christmas! Karina |
|
You did real good until you made that statement. What's wrong with you? If his son was in the Air Force would you say the same thing? And yes there are Air Force troops in combat over there. |

|
Add my thanks from another grateful citizen. I remember reading your post when he first deployed to Iraq and the pride that you felt for his service and your support of his decision. It was obvious where your son got his values.
Cheers to both of you. NorCal |
|
Tell him Thanks from my family here, and Semper Fi from an Marine married to an army medic.
|
|
Chill out, its a friendly jab. An inter-service rivalry sort of comment. |
