While Zel Miller was talking the other night, the camera cut to a veteran in the audience wearing an Iwo Jima hat. My grandfather was a marine at Iwo Jima. He made it home, but died of a heart attack when I was too young to know or care about what he really did.

Anyone know of any online boards where Iwo Jima veterans might be hanging out? I would really just like to talk or correspond with someone who was there.

I have an outstanding scrapbook that my grandmother put together. Need to get that out and review it.

I don't know of any boards, but organizations like the VFW, American Legion, Marine Corps League, the 1st Marine Division Association and others may be able to help you.

My father was an Iwo Jima vet, he was with 4th Marine Div. He belonged to Connecticut Iwo Jima Survivors. He died a few years ago, I don't find any contacts among his military stuff that I've got.  I'll see if my mother can help, she's a Marine too.
