Just kidding.

But I did stop at one tonight and I've got to ask this question.

As I was pulling up to it I couldn't see the road, the LEO IN the road, or the cars on the side of the road because they all had their LED strobes going full blast in the dark. I was going MAYBE 2 mph and still almost ran over the poor guy because I was flash blinded.

Why didn't they put the lights on the lower intensity alt flash instead of the mad strobe effects? Do they just WANT to get hurt?

In all my dealings with light installs (work P/T doing them) 90% of agencys dont want the HI/Lo power enabled weather its Liabilty reasons or just the thinking that the personal wont use them I dont know

Well, it's kind of a double-edged sword. We all want better nd brighter lights to make sure we're seen. But then it has the effect you describe of almost blinding you at night. Did the officers have reflective traffic vests on??

Nope no vests that I could see.

I  guess next someone will complain that the cones you have to drive through are too close together.  If you pay attention to what you're doing you shouldn't have a problem running that gauntlet of blinding lights

To make it easier to see inside the cars as they approach.  The local police often setup road blocks on the street beside my office.  It's amusing to watch the way certain people move around frantically trying to find and hide everything they shouldn't have.  Just wait a few minutes and often you'll see the car on a flatbed being towed.  Those people might as well tattoo "I'm a criminal" on their forehead.z

Yeah, when I come across one of those, it's almost blinding. I can't see shit, especially when I've had a few drinks before....

When the boyz here set up check points..sometimes they will park 2 cars back to back in the center of the road with the strobes and wig wags going. So not only is the light bar blinding you..you have high beam headlights blasting you as well.

At least for fire engines and ambulances here the standards call for all forward facing white flashing lights to be automatically shut off when the vehicle is taken out of gear.

I'm guessing that the police don't have that sort of a standard.
