Lest we forget.

Pallbearers carry the casket of Colorado Springs police officer Jared Jensen into the New Life Church for his funeral service on Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, in Colorado Springs. Jensen was killed in the line of duty last week.

Jared Jensen s widow and college sweetheart, Natalie, enters New Life Church in Colorado Springs for the detective's funeral.

Mourners fill the church for Monday's service. More than half who attended were public servants in uniform. Jensen, 30, was killed Wednesday while trying to apprehend a stabbing suspect. "His last act was to confront malevolence," said Colorado Springs Police Chief Luis Velez, who delivered the eulogy.

Jared Jensen s nephew Kyle Jensen, the son of Jared's brother and fellow Colorado Springs officer Jeffrey Jensen, salutes as the hour-long funeral procession passes police headquarters Monday. Onlookers waited hours along the route for the procession.
