Quoted: Occasionally, you read that Muhammed Ali or some other modern era boxer is the greatest of all time. Boxers from the "white era" are ignored and forgotten.

The only "white era" I'm familiar with is the period prior to the turn of the 20th Century when black and white fighters were virtually forbidden to enter the same ring. Since Jack Johnson broke that barrier in 1909, there've been numerous white champs, to include Jack Dempsey (a fantastic fighter).
Is Muhammed Ali the greatest boxer of all time? That's arguable. Most sources will say that he is the greatest of the
modern era. IMHO, the one boxer that truly dominated consecutive heavyweight championships has to be Joe Louis, the "Brown Bomber."
White fighters "ignored and forgotten?" No. It's just been quite some time since a white heavyweight champ has reigned.
