I know you folks have the answer so let me ask: If I buy a 14.5 inch barrel and a vortex flash hider would that constitute a 16 inch total length barrel? Does the Vortex need to be attached permanently or can it be attached by threaded barrel? I never researched this issue, as I never expected to consider a short barrel purchase. Very much appreciate your response.  Thanks,

Permently attached (welded or silver solder) Red loc-tite is not acceptable.
